The Croydon and Bromley School of Philosophy
THE CHRISTMAS STORY
DECEMBER 1ST 2019
THE FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT
‘…it is high time to wake up out of sleep… the night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.’ (Romans XIII)
Colin Matten will lead the talk and discussion
Colin Matten has tutored groups in the Croydon and Bromley School right back from the start, in an upper room of a shop in the High Street in the 1960’s. He continues to be a much loved Tutor by many students who are themselves Tutors and he has had a significant impact on the lives of many.
Colin taught Divinity at St Dunstan’s College until 1998 and he founded St Edward’s Study Group, made up of St Dunstan’s pupils, many of whom joined the School of Philosophy and Economics Science in London and met with Mr Leon MacLaren, the founder of the School, at Waterperry.
Colin became interested in the wisdom of the Authorised Version of the Bible and the beauty of its language, The Christmas Story is one such study.
